Over the past months, I’ve been speaking with families from different parts of the world who are exploring UK education — for short-term study, relocation, or longer-term planning. Two recent conversations stood out, not because they were unique, but because they clearly reflected a broader trend I’m seeing:
1. Families are increasingly finding UK education through Chinese social platforms, even when they are not based in China
2. Many are not looking for “top schools”, but for clarity, suitability, and smooth transition
3. Short-term or flexible placements are becoming a common entry point
4. Parents value context and explanation, not promotional language
What’s interesting is that these conversations often start before families fully understand the UK system — and long before they contact schools directly.
For schools, this creates both a challenge and an opportunity:
1. Visibility no longer starts with websites or agents
2. Trust is built earlier, through content, explanation, and familiarity
3. Families arrive better informed — but also with more nuanced questions
The schools that resonate most with international families tend to be those that can explain how their environment works, not just what they offer.
Curious to hear how others in the sector are seeing international enquiries evolve this year.
