A student enrols. A place is filled. The immediate objective has been achieved.
But when that recruitment cycle ends, what remains inside the school? If the audience, relationships and market knowledge remain largely with external partners, the school may need to begin again the following year—re-entering the market without a stronger position of its own.
A more sustainable approach ensures that each recruitment activity also contributes to assets the school can retain and strengthen:
• Recognition among relevant families
• Direct communication channels and relationships
• A reusable body of market-relevant content
• Better understanding of how families make decisions
• Stronger partnerships and internal market capability
This is what we mean by school-owned market equity. It does not replace the role of education agents or other external partners. Strong partners remain extremely valuable.
The difference is that every campaign, conversation, event and enrolment should also leave the school with something it can build upon.
The strategic question is therefore not only:
How many students did we recruit?
It is also:
What stronger market position did we build while doing it?
